Meet Dr. Laurette Hashim Basciano, DDS

My professional career began at New York University College of Dentistry, where I graduated at the top of my class and became a member of OKU, a dental honor society. Thereafter, I finished a one-year residency at New York Hospital Queens. This was a valuable experience as it provided me with an opportunity to focus on emergency dentistry as well as prosthetics.

Following completion of the program in 2003, I was fortunate to become employed by County Dental. It is with this organization that I began to refine my clinical skills in all aspects of General Dentistry, from traditional crown and bridge, to cosmetics and implant dentistry. Along the way, I have also taken advanced courses, including a one-year Full Mouth Rehabilitation course at NYU. It is in this area of dentistry where my passion lies because I have seen first-hand the impact that a beautiful and confident smile can have on a person. As a result, I strive for excellence on a daily basis, not only to perfect my skills, but also to provide my patients with the utmost level of care and professionalism.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are the most durable and natural-looking solution available for our County Dental at Fishkill, NY patients who are missing one or more teeth. Dental implants are permanent and allow for natural cleaning, chewing, and speech. The dental implants process generally takes between three to six months.

Placing Dental Implants

During the first of three visits the patient’s mouth and jaw will be examined visually and via CT scan to determine whether the patient is a good candidate for dental implants. During the second visit, the patient will be made comfortable with local anesthesia and his or her gums and jaw will be prepared to receive the implants. The dentist will then insert the titanium tooth roots into the patient’s jaw and close the incisions with stitches.

The patient will be fitted with custom-crafted, natural-looking porcelain replacement teeth on the third visit. At the completion of this final visit, the patient will have beautiful and durable replacement teeth.
